Sexual Purity: The Need to be Free!

I just want to take a moment and share some thoughts that I have had recently in helping people overcome sexual sin.

When a man or woman is not walking in the light in the area of sexual purity, it becomes very easy for the devil to undermine them spiritually. We have callings on our life that are so much more precious than the evils of pornography, fantasy lust fueled by raunchy novels and sleazy soap operas. Yet, if the devil can tempt us in private and have us succumb to these temptations. I guarantee that you may be able to keep the sin hidden, but the price you pay will also be that you yourself will be hindered, hampered, or hidden yourself.

God needs a generation of believers who will walk in purity. He needs us to walk in the fulness of His power and grace. We cannot do that with a garment of shame smothering us. We cannot preach with clarity, if our own senses and thoughts are dulled by the aftermath of sin.

Do you want to be all you can be as a husband and father? You will need to put away the excuses and the sin from your life to do that.

Do you wish to be all God has created you to be as a wife and mother? Again, the sin will have to go! Secret sins are not as secret as we would like. "For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad." Luke 8:17

Can we hide our sin by going to church each week? Not really, "For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?" 1 Peter 4:17.

The Good News is this: "For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. 1Co 11:31-32.

Let us take a look at our hearts. Lets take our purity seriously. If God looks at the heart, what is he seeing in yours when no one else is around?

Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Heb 10:30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
